AMARAWATI – The old age home is a noble initiative by Akhil Bharatiya Vridhajan Sewa Ashram Sanstha (ABVSAS), Jorhat. Under the aegis of a central NGO of the same title established in New Delhi in the year 2010, headed by Sri Satpal Saini, a veteran Freedom Fighter and noted Social Activist.
Under the guidance and advice of this NGO, Jorhat district ABVSAS was started in 2012, after the resolution of a public meeting on 28.12.2012. It was registered under Societies Act XXI 1860 vide No RS/JOR/238/G/24 of 2014-15. The project has been undertaken following the Government of India’s FATHER-MOTHER AGED PERSONS CARE & DEVELOPMENT ACT 2007 (The maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Act-2007)
